Fanart - Everyone has their scars

Just to let you know, I'm a sketch person. I feel much more confortable working with a pencil than with the tablet, so this drawing is not definite at all. Actually, there are three different drawings, but I think of them as a whole. Of course, there's a lot of room for interpretation.
Harry and Draco, 20something years old, post-war (yes, again..)

Title: Everyone has their scars
Characters: Harry/Draco
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Bare chest

Draco, why are you so difficult to draw? It took me like forever to draw him... *goes off to study*

These are beautiful - I love black and white line-work. I think they convey a story very strongly, though as you say, probably a different story for different viewers. I love Draco's hand clenching the sheet and the fierceness with which Harry clings to him.

[identity profile] reira-21.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Draco's hand is probably the thing I like most, though it took me a long time to draw it. Thanks for your comment!

Oh, so beautiful! I can totally see the story behind this one, and I just love it that it's open for all sorts of interpretations except for one: there's definitely love there.

Oh my, V-Day made me go all sappy :D

[identity profile] reira-21.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, you're right, the love between Harry and Draco can't be denied.
Thanks for your comment :D

Meravigliosa!
Harry ha un'espressione bellissima!

[identity profile] reira-21.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Grazie mille! Anche a me non dispiace come è venuta fuori la sua espressione...Harry è molto più facile da disegnare :P

This is really nice. I like the sketchiness, actually. I think it adds to the story you're trying to tell.

[identity profile] reira-21.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, thanks, I'm glad you appreciate it :)

[identity profile] lusiology.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Very powerful. You should be pleased with these pictures.

My initial interpretation is: Harry and Draco are about to have their first intimate moment. But as Draco begins to undress he feels unworthy - or is reminded of things done during the war - once the DM is revealed and turns away. Harry, already undressed, is disappointed that once again Voldie comes between them, but he doesn't try to force the issue and they get dressed again in silence. Determined to show Draco it doesn't matter, that he loves him no matter what, Harry hugs him fiercely, wrapping him in warmth and security.

Goodness me. Got a little carried away there.

Yes! Someone should write this story!

This is gorgeous! I love the title and the way it guides the viewer's understanding of the sketches (i.e. that scars are both literal and figurative). Really lovely. Thank you for sharing!

Beautiful. One advantage of 'analog' technique is the sense of touch. You touch them, touching us.

[identity profile] reira-21.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I know what you mean, drawing with traditional media, it gives you a completely different sensation. You can actually touch what you created.

Thanks for commenting.

Oh, this tells a lovely story anyway you look at it. Such love even amidst pain and regret. At least that's what I see. Beautiful.

[identity profile] reira-21.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Pain, regret and love. That is exactly what I had in mind when I drew this.
Thank you.

so gorgeous. i love draco's large, masculine hand. big enough that perhaps he hasn't quite finished growing into his adult body. or perhaps he's simply got large and powerful hands. i love his fist, too. just that small glimpse is definitely a picture that evokes a lot of words.

your bare harry is sexy and i want to see more of that naked pelvis. yet i still sense the withdrawn, uncomfortable sadness in him. it's in the twist away, the covered eyes and blocked jaw.

and the two of them, still dressed, in bed? whoa. draco pulls away, harry follows. draco's left hand isn't clutched into a fist, but i still see tension and wakefullness in it. he doesn't look relaxed at all. and i like the way you've drawn harry's eyes. i can't tell whether or not they are closed, and i like the implications of that.

bravo. so well done. all of it.

[identity profile] reira-21.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm really glad you noticed a lot of small details, such as Harry's blocked jaw in the first picture or the tension in Draco's body in the second one.

draco pulls away, harry follows.
That's the feeling I wanted to convey in this image. Draco is scared, but Harry can't just let him go.

Thank you so much for this comment.

Awwww... what a lovely artwork.

I really like the ambiguity of this collection, and how the boys seek comfort in one another. :)

Ooh, I like this (and I'm not a Draco/Harry fan). Harry's hair is really great.

It gorgeous and yet... so sad. Loveliest H/D I've seen in a while. Makes me want to read some fic. Any suggestion?

[identity profile] reira-21.livejournal.com 2008-02-17 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Uhm..let's see. A medium-lenght fic I really enjoyed is A mile in his shoes (http://www.thehexfiles.net/viewstory.php?sid=6295) by [livejournal.com profile] sansa1970. If you want to read something shorter, you can try But not for love (http://fictualities.livejournal.com/29764.html?page=3#comments) (really angsty fic) by [livejournal.com profile] fictualities or The price we pay for wings (http://community.livejournal.com/hd_holidays/77197.html) by [livejournal.com profile] frayach.
