Fanart - Feelings have no shape

I'm still sad that I missed the hd_holidays sign-ups, so I drew this fanart for the challenge over at hp_fringeart. I always wanted to draw Snape/Lily. I tried to use Painter X and I have to say I love it. It's so much easier than Photoshop, there's a mixer for colors and several settings for the brushes. But I still feel more comfortable with natural media.

This is so lovely. The poses are wonderful - I particularly like the way James is turning slightly and the hand in his pocket. It looks like a difficult posture to get right. They all look so lonely.

And the style is unusual and wonderful! I love the fine detail of the characters against the broad brushstrokes of colour, and the empty space in the composition. Really beautiful.

I wanted to try something new and Painter is a great software when it comes to relistic brushstrokes. It was really fun to just paint over them, let the colors have their way, with no need of further detail except for their faces.
